Sesame is one of the oldest crops in the world; its cultivation began in Asia over 5,500 years ago. Sesame seeds and oil are considered healthy and widely used for their excellent flavor and taste. In the lab, we use our wide sesame germplasm collection as a source for genetic diversity. We use cutting-edge phenotyping technologies to screen high-yield and quality sesame lines and employ advanced genetic and genomic tools to reveal the genetic basis of these traits.
